Tops, dresses & outerwear

AChest: armpit to armpit across the front, laid flat. Double it to compare with your bust.
BLength: from the highest point of the shoulder down to the hem.
CShoulder: seam to seam across the back.
DSleeve: from the shoulder seam to the cuff.
1Bust: around the fullest part of your chest, tape level.
2Waist: around the narrowest part, just above the belly button.
3Hips: around the fullest part, feet together.

Jeans, pants, shorts & skirts

AWaist: across the top edge, laid flat. Double it to compare with your waist.
BHip: across the widest part below the waistband, laid flat. Double it.
CLength: from the top of the waistband down to the hem.
DInseam: from the crotch seam down to the hem.

Jeans listed in waist sizes (Waist 26, 28 …) follow the waist in inches.

Shoes

cmStand on paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure heel to mark. Do it in the evening, in the socks you'll wear, and use your longer foot.

1Wrap a thin strip of paper round the base of your finger, snug but able to slide over the knuckle.
2Mark where it meets, lay it flat and measure the length in mm: your circumference.
